A nod to all ‘90s Black romantic classics, SPEAK UP BROTHA! flirts with Afro-futurism while exploring the synergy of connection. This slideshow shows a few selections of my work of set and prop design focusing on classic 90’s, afro-centric elements and warm soulful tones.

This film has been accepted into 17 festivals thus far, with 7 being Oscar qualified and 9 in awards and nominations. Won BEST SHORT at North Carolina Black Film Festival; won BEST SHORT - HARLEM SPOTLIGHT at the Harlem International Film Festival; won BEST STUDENT FILM at the Detroit Black Film Festival; won BEST ACTOR - RODERICK LAWRENCE at RiverRun International Film Festival; were nominated at BronzeLens and Key West Film Festival for BEST SHORT; were nominated at Micheaux Festival for OUTSTANDING WRITING - RODERICK LAWRENCE, JAMES J. JOHNSON and OBBIE WEST; and were a semi-finalist at an 8th Oscar qualifier.
